Scan-Xpress has partnered with the New Zealand based additive manufacturer Zenith Tecnica to offer titanium 3D printing. Zenith Tecnica uses Electron Beam Melting (EBM) to create high quality components for the aerospace, defence and medical industries. They also offer a number of post-processing options including Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIPing), finish machining and polishing/surface coating services.


The benefits of Electron Beam Melting (EBM) include:


  • Superior material properties (UTS, yield, ductility, fracture toughness etc)
  • Low levels of impurities and porosity
  • Raw material yield in excess of 95%
  • No residual stress
  • Material only where it is needed (topology optimisation and complex internal geometry can be achieved)
  • Consolidation of multiple components into a single part
